Requesting Support for Legislative Opposition

We learned today that the Labor Committee will have a public hearing on Thursday at 1 pm on the Maine Employment Termination Act. If anyone has time to testify, write your legislator or contact members on the Labor committee to oppose this bill, LD 1185 - An Act to Require Cause of Employment Termination…Thanks! As you know this bill would take away employment at will, require severance pay, increase adversity between employers-disgruntled employee, bring arbitration before the Maine Labor Relations Board and several financial awards against employers for wrongful termination.

Any effort you can make to oppose this legislation would be most appreciated!

HR Professional Day

I was thrilled with the turnout of  today's HR Professional Day in Augusta....between 60-70 folks. What a great collective presence and voice for Maine HR! I definitely think we raised some eye brows by taking up all the seats in the Labor Committee work session today!!

Special thanks to Bill Saufley, Lisa Noonan, Christine Riendeau, Sarah Conroy and the entire State Council and Chapter Legislative members for making today such a huge success...a well organized event, great speakers, excited participants and excellent presence at the State House. KUDOS!!!
